Zinc

Overview

Zircon sand (zirconium silicate, ZrSiO4) is a hard, durable, chemically inert mineral sand prized for its high melting point, heat resistance, and opacifying properties, making it crucial for ceramics (tiles, sanitary ware), refractories (furnace linings), precision metal casting (molds, cores), and producing zirconium chemicals and pigments.

Zircon sand is a naturally occurring zirconium silicate mineral valued for its thermal stability and chemical resistance.

Zircon quality is assessed based on ZrO₂ content, iron impurities, and grain size, which vary by deposit.
