Zinc

Overview

Zinc is a bluish-white metal known for its anti-corrosion properties. It is mainly extracted from the mineral sphalerite.

Zinc (Zn) is a vital trace mineral and bluish-white metal essential for immune function, cell growth, wound healing, DNA synthesis, and senses of taste/smell, needing daily intake as the body doesn’t store it; it’s also a widely used metal for galvanizing steel, protecting against rust. It’s found in foods like meat, poultry, and legumes, and plays crucial roles in metabolism and development from infancy to adulthood.
